How to delete temp file in windows

Windows 11: Taking The Microsoft OS To The Next Level

To clean the temporary files in Windows, you can follow these steps:

  1. Close all open programs and windows.

  2. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

  3. Type “%temp%” (without the quotes) into the Run dialog box and press Enter. This will open the temp folder.

  4. Press Ctrl + A to select all of the files in the temp folder.

  5. Press the Delete key on your keyboard to delete all of the selected files.

  6. Close the temp folder.

Note: Some of the files in the temp folder may be in use and cannot be deleted. If you receive an error message when trying to delete a file, just skip that file and move on to the next one.

Alternatively, you can use the Disk Cleanup tool to delete temporary files and other unnecessary files from your system. To do this:

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type “cleanmgr” (without the quotes) into the Run dialog box and press Enter. This will open the Disk Cleanup tool.

  3. Select the drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.

  4. In the Disk Cleanup for (Drive Letter) window, check the boxes for the file types that you want to delete, such as Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin, and Temporary files.

  5. Click OK to start the cleanup process.

  6. When the process is complete, click Close.
